What happens when you live in a city
This is at the Barracks Row Oktoberfest. For us city dwellers that don't get out the farm, they have 'Squeals on Wheels' who brings animals in to fairs, fests, parties, etc... to show us what they look like.

Congressional Staffers Up in Arms over Bailout Bill!!!
We were out for a nice walk to the National Book Festival when we looked up at an office window in the Rayburn House Office Building to see our little sister (in-law) waving her arms around like a crazy person. Congress was in session this weekend to deal with this bailout, and Ashlee drew the short straw to come in and deal with it. The life of a staffer.....

Day out at Nationals Park
As many of you know we have season tickets to the Washington Nationals (not the worst team in baseball--but they are playing the Padres this weekend). Every now and then we get a few perks and today was one of those days. On a gorgeous Saturday afternoon we had a chance to explore the ballpark and all of the things not usually accessible to folks with tickets in the 400-level. Check out the pics to see us running the bases, acting like coaches (see pic to the left), and jumping the outfield wall.

Maine
Lighthouses!!!
After a brief stay back home (and a quick trip to South Carolina for Andi) we were off again. This time to Maine with our good friends Chris and Jen from Burlington, VT. We started in Portland - eating lobster, of course. Our tours around the region included lots of coastlines and lighthouses. We took a boat ride out to Monhegan Island to do lots of hiking on the island run over artists. Enjoy the pics.

Buster's Wedding
We hurried back from Alaska to make it to San Francisco to see our good friend Buster get married. He and Jennifer were married at Domaine Chandon - a sparkling wine vineyard in Napa. It was a fast trip for one night with good friends and good wine. See pics.
Alaska
In the middle of August we flew up to Alaska with our sister - Ashlee. The three of us rented a house in Homer with our good friends - Beth and Rich, along with their son Luke. Chuck's brother, Mike, and his family drove down to Homer to meet us too.
We went Halibut fishing, explored the tidepools, ate fresh Halibut, and frequented our favorite Italian pizzeria, twice. There was hiking, 4-wheeling, and more fishing. We saw quite a bit of wildlife and saw a baby bear in our yard just before leaving Homer. See pics...
